This is a remarkable opportunity for a seasoned venue administrator to transform theater management at the Academy. The role will oversee the operational aspects of four cutting-edge theaters managed by the Alliance for Media Arts and Culture, ensuring a cohesive experience across venues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall leadership of the Academy Theaters Division, encompassing strategic planning, managerial oversight, financial management, operational administration, scheduling, and team supervision to guarantee an exceptional experience for all attendees.
  • Collaborate closely with the COO and other executives to formulate the vision and long-term strategy for the Academy Theaters Division, focusing on the integration of various operational teams.
  • Supervise the Cinema Projection team to maintain the highest technical standards within the theaters.
  • Act as the primary representative for the Academy, engaging with advisory groups to uphold theater standards.
  • Manage the Events A/V team, ensuring high-quality service across all Academy venues.
  • Promote inclusivity and accessibility in theater programming.
  • Effectively communicate the capabilities and limitations of the Academy theaters to stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement departmental systems and practices that enhance operational efficiency while delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Project a professional and welcoming image, committed to providing personalized services to all patrons, clients, vendors, and staff.
  • Establish and manage operational budgets for the theaters.
  • Negotiate contracts and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Recruit, train, and lead department personnel, implementing performance evaluation and improvement strategies.
  • Ensure that theater facilities and technologies are maintained in optimal condition for an exceptional viewing experience.
  • Facilitate production meetings and collaborate with various departments to ensure the successful execution of public programs.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of new cinema technologies and recommend advancements to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in business, hospitality, or a related field is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in managing high-profile cinema or event venues; experience in arts nonprofits is advantageous.
  • Extensive managerial experience with a proven track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of departmental operations, including financial management, strategic planning, and staff supervision.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cinema technology, lighting, sound design, and theater operations.
  • Knowledge of film history and industry standards.
  • Experience working with venue rental clients.
  • Ability to adapt to the dynamic nature of live events.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move, climb stairs, and remain stationary for extended periods.
