Position Overview:
Under the general oversight of the Financial Grants Manager, the incumbent will be tasked with managing financial transactions, overseeing general accounting practices, and ensuring compliance with financial controls and regulations.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

Key Competencies:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, exhibit strong analytical capabilities, and possess a solid understanding of general accounting principles, budgeting processes, payroll systems, and computerized accounting platforms. Prioritization skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines are essential, along with a keen attention to detail.

Transportation Requirements:
Access to reliable transportation is necessary.

Experience:
A minimum of two to three years of relevant accounting experience is preferred, ideally within a non-profit environment. Experience should encompass knowledge of financial reporting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that equips the candidate with the requisite skills and knowledge for the role may be considered at the discretion of senior management.

Licenses/Certifications:
A valid Michigan Driver's License is required.

Training:
Training will be provided as necessary.

Problem Solving and Interpersonal Skills:
The candidate must demonstrate a high level of problem-solving ability and decision-making skills. Collaboration and teamwork with other agency staff are crucial.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
The role demands a conscientious and alert individual capable of maintaining focus in a dynamic and often fast-paced environment. The ability to concentrate despite interruptions and to sit at a desk for extended periods is essential.

Core Responsibilities:
- Monthly reconciliation of General and Payroll bank accounts.
- Ensuring cash balances align with the General Ledger and preparing necessary adjustments.
- Reconciling subsidiary accounts, including various small accounts.
- Managing the entry of VOID checks monthly and ensuring the sequential order of check numbers and cash receipts.
- Timely and accurate billing to various funding sources, both Federal and Non-Federal, while reviewing contracts for reporting requirements.
- Monthly reconciliation of Accounts Receivable and Revenue by Fund, preparing work papers for outstanding amounts.
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries and maintaining a log of recurring entries.
- Assisting with fiscal year-end closing and preparing work papers for Federal and Non-Federal Grants.
- Maintaining the Vendor Database and ensuring compliance with IRS requirements.
- Reviewing Non-Federal in-kind contributions as per grantor requirements.
- Entering budgets and adjusting journal entries in accounting software as directed.
- Preparing miscellaneous invoices as assigned and serving as backup for Accounts Payable.
- Performing additional job-related duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check post-offer and may be required to undergo a physical examination and TB test.

Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Financial Grants Manager.
