Position Overview:

We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to become a vital member of our Accounting Division. This role will involve actively enhancing the accounting practices, policies, and procedures related to Compass' financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, and internal reporting, including equity accounting.

The successful candidate will also support a team that oversees the accounting, reporting, and policy formulation for various subsidiaries within Compass.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and related disclosures for quarterly and annual regulatory submissions, ensuring adherence to all reporting and disclosure standards under US GAAP.
  • Compile and validate all financial data included in investor presentations, debt covenant assessments, and other analytical reports for executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary information for reports; coordinate feedback on drafts; prepare supporting documentation; critically assess the appropriateness of disclosures; and complete all relevant checklists and questionnaires.
  • Stay informed on emerging accounting and reporting regulations from the SEC, FASB, and PCAOB, and evaluate their impact on the organization.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and document new policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Assist in the month-end closing process by recording journal entries and performing accruals related to mergers and acquisitions and stock-based compensation in compliance with ASC 718.
  • Support quarterly fluctuation analysis and prepare account analyses and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Work collaboratively with various accounting teams to ensure alignment of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FASB regulations, and corporate policies in all financial activities.
  • Identify accounting challenges, conduct research, summarize findings, and communicate solutions effectively.
  • Evaluate accounting processes and internal controls for opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors regarding audit and accounting requirements.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Basic understanding of residential real estate is preferred.
  • Experience working across multiple geographical entities is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel is required.
  • Experience with NetSuite and Workiva is a plus.
Work Environment:

This position is 100% onsite.
