Job Description

**About the Position**

The Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics (VIPBG) at the School of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral researcher position. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of researchers focused on understanding the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to psychiatric and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop research questions and objectives aligned with the institute's goals.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative analyses using advanced statistical and computational methods.
  • Document all analytical procedures and results through open science applications.
  • Prepare and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed academic journals.
  • Contribute to manuscripts led by other team members and present findings at professional conferences.

Requirements

  • PhD in a related field (Mathematics, Biostatistics, Psychology, Psychiatry, Biology, Genetics, Epidemiology)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team
  • Commitment to thorough, rigorous research and a thoughtful approach to problem-solving
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status (green card) required

Preferred Qualifications

  • History of peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience interpreting findings in a developmental context
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Quantitative analytic skills, preferably in R data science programming language
