Position Overview:

A Laboratory Research Associate role is open within the team led by Dr. Rajan Gogna at the Commonwealth of Virginia's School of Medicine. The selected candidate will engage in research initiatives examining the influence of thermodynamic variations on cellular interactions. We seek an individual with a solid background in thermodynamics and relevant experience in establishing systems to evaluate the effects of temperature fluctuations on cell interactions. This research is crucial as cancer is often linked to bacterial proliferation, which can alter local temperature dynamics and affect cellular outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary duties for this role include conducting mammalian cell culture and managing a thermodynamic chamber to investigate the effects of temperature on cellular interactions. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to the design and execution of research projects, effectively communicate and interpret findings to the principal investigator, laboratory personnel, and students, and assist colleagues in troubleshooting experimental and equipment issues. It is essential for the candidate to maintain comprehensive records of experimental results.

Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in temperature regulation and thermodynamic control within cell culture environments Familiarity with hyperbaric chamber operations Excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, and the capacity to present findings clearly A demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in previous roles or a commitment to uphold these values as a team member at the Commonwealth of Virginia Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant experience in this research area Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Psychology, or Engineering Extensive experience with cell culture techniques and thermodynamic or hyperbaric chambers The School of Medicine is dedicated to ensuring our workplace and educational environment reflects the diverse communities we serve.
