About the Company: The Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) Center on Transition Innovations (CTI) provides evidence-based resources and pioneering practices to assist individuals with disabilities in accessing higher education and employment opportunities.

Job Title: Associate for Research and Technical SupportCompany: Commonwealth of Virginia

Key Objective: In this position, you will spearhead various grant-supported research initiatives concentrating on secondary transition and post-secondary education for students with disabilities. Your role will involve overseeing project teams, fostering collaboration, and ensuring successful outcomes for students with disabilities.

You will offer guidance on professional development, create engaging educational content, and provide technical assistance to stakeholders involved in transition programs.

Active engagement in research activities, data analysis, and grant writing is a fundamental aspect of this role.

Note to Applicants: This position is funded through grants. Seeking new grant opportunities to enhance RRTC CTI initiatives will also be part of your responsibilities.

Extensive experience in delivering technical assistance to support inclusive post-secondary education programs and facilitating collaboration across agencies is essential.

Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and familiarity with federal and state regulations such as IDEA, WIOA, Perkins V, HEOA, and ADA are required.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop online training resources aligned with best practices.
  • Deliver presentations through various channels.
  • Provide technical assistance to improve transition services.
  • Conduct presentations on research findings to diverse audiences.
  • Identify research opportunities within transition programs.
  • Collaborate with educational agencies, employers, and families.
  • Coordinate activities, monitor grant deliverables, and report on progress.

You should be capable of authoring professional journals and reports on research findings.

Administrative duties include obtaining research approvals and submitting progress reports.

Representing the organization to key stakeholders and cultivating collaborative relationships is vital.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in special education, vocational rehabilitation, or social sciences.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working with students with disabilities.
  • At least 2 years of experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Strong organizational skills and knowledge of disability regulations.
  • Experience in qualitative research methodologies.
  • Commitment to promoting a diverse environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in providing technical assistance in transition services and developing grant applications is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate research findings to various stakeholders.

Experience in educating individuals from under-represented communities and creating online training programs.

Proven experience in college and career readiness for individuals with disabilities.
