About the Role

Banc of California is seeking a highly skilled Senior Vice President, Banker to join our team. As a key member of our venture banking group, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with venture capital firms, venture-backed technology and life science companies, and other key contacts within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  • Origination and Relationship Management: Play a key role in growing on-balance sheet deposits, loan commitments, loan outstandings, and non-interest income while effectively managing credit risk.
  • Client Acquisition: Leverage your existing network to self-generate new loan clients and own primary day-to-day relationships with key contacts.
  • Deal Sourcing and Sponsorship: Source high-quality deals and sponsor them through the underwriting and credit committee process.
  • Portfolio Management: Assist the portfolio team in managing existing relationships, adding value, and adding loans, deposits, and GTM products.
  • Documentation and Closing: Manage documentation, negotiate terms, and close credit requests with limited assistance or counsel.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Adhere to all corporate compliance and regulatory needs, including compliance training, Reg B, NOD, CDD, etc.
  • Team Development: Assist in developing less experienced bankers and analysts, prepare and deliver employee performance evaluations, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of venture technology or life sciences banking and/or financial services experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Creative and strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism and a positive attitude under pressure
  • Ability to work independently yet collaborate cross-functionally in a team environment
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, projects, and relationships simultaneously
  • Proven success in managing large client accounts
What We Offer
