As a leading engineering solutions provider collaborating with NASA across various centers in the United States.

We are looking for a Lead Spacecraft Systems Engineer to become part of our Engineering Division.

We are currently identifying qualified candidates for this anticipated opening, although we cannot guarantee when the position will be officially available. We believe the position will be approved soon, and we are proceeding with candidate evaluations and interviews.

Key Responsibilities:

- Directing the development of spacecraft systems, focusing on innovative approaches for propulsion, structural integrity, and environmental control to support long-duration space missions.


- Leading interdisciplinary teams to integrate advanced technologies into cohesive spacecraft designs that meet mission objectives and visionary aspirations.

- Overseeing the spacecraft design lifecycle, which includes conceptualization, system integration, prototype development, and thorough testing phases, while adhering to the highest standards of aerospace engineering.

- Conducting detailed analyses across various engineering domains, such as mechanical, thermal, and fluid dynamics, to validate and enhance spacecraft designs.

- Initiating and managing advanced research initiatives to investigate new materials and technologies that improve the performance and sustainability of space systems.

- Designing and implementing comprehensive testing protocols for spacecraft components, utilizing simulations and real-world assessments to ensure mission-critical reliability and safety.

- Collaborating closely with project leaders to align engineering solutions with strategic objectives and mission timelines.

- Developing and mentoring a team of skilled aerospace engineers, fostering a culture of technical innovation, operational excellence, and continuous learning.

- Leading the preparation and execution of significant design and readiness reviews.

- Collaborating with team members to produce Systems Engineering deliverables with specific technical documentation.

- Responsible for planning, developing, reviewing, and maintaining program requirements, including Project Technical Requirements Specification (PTRS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Verification and Validation Document (V&VD), and Verification Success Criteria (VSC).

- Utilizing requirements management software and systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Cradle, or MagicDraw.

- Preparing materials for the system lifecycle phases, including System Readiness Review (SRR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).

- Working with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and assist in planning risk responses.

- Performing and reviewing system-level architecture trade studies and analyses that will impact overall system design and performance.


- Collaborating in a team environment and reporting to the team lead to provide updates on progress and challenges while seeking support.

- Maintaining a professional relationship with NASA and other supporting contractors.

- Performing additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

- Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, with a related master's degree or higher preferred, along with 15+ years of relevant experience.

- A minimum of 15 years of systems engineering experience on NASA projects.

- Extensive knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware domain, including mechanical and electrical system design, engineering documentation, and material selection.

- Expert understanding of systems engineering principles and associated documentation.

- Proficiency in preparing written documents and delivering presentations at various meetings.

- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

- Experience working collaboratively in a team setting.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous experience in systems engineering for NASA projects.

Essential Functions:

- Work Environment: Generally, an office setting, but may involve both indoor and outdoor tasks depending on the assignment.

- Physical Requirements: Work may involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

- Equipment and Machines: Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

- Attendance: Regular attendance according to an established work schedule is critical. Flexibility to work outside normal hours and adjust schedules to meet peak demands is required.

- Other Essential Functions: Professional conduct that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
