Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aerospace Systems Manager to join our team at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the Passive Thermal Control Systems for our spacecraft, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Engineering and Technical Integration: You will be responsible for independently identifying technical needs and managing the system engineering and technical integration activities over the entire life cycle, from development to launch and on-orbit operations.
  • Technical Expertise: As a technical expert in the field of passive thermal control design and engineering analysis, you will provide senior engineering technical direction on complex studies involving thermal and structural interaction, computational concepts, and techniques for performing thermal analyses.
  • Problem-Solving and Leadership: You will direct the solution of problems that arise during spacecraft developmental and operational phases, leading the effort of identifying anomalies and serving as the technical expert providing engineering recommendations for resolution.
  • Technical Authority: You will serve as the technical authority for the Passive Thermal Control System during various boards, acceptance reviews, and certification of flight readiness (CoFR) processes, participating in integration reviews as required.
  • Team Management: You will manage Passive Thermal Control System design, development, test, and evaluation activities of assigned NASA personnel, prime contractors, subcontractors, and international partners, as required.
  • Communication and Reporting: You will keep management properly apprised of Passive Thermal Control System, Subsystem issues, and integration issues via activity reports, weekly status reviews, daily management tag-ups, and award fees.
Requirements
  • Education: You must have a bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, or Computer Science.
  • Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.
