Key Responsibilities:
The Structural Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Earth to Moon mission by:
- Overseeing subsystem management and integration to enhance the EHP Structures and Mechanisms System Team.
- Applying knowledge of integrated EHP architecture to ensure effective interaction among Structures and Mechanisms in hardware design.
- Developing and interpreting system requirements in alignment with NASA Technical Authority standards.
- Contributing to program milestones through critical reviews and assessments of hardware development.
- Supporting the creation of hardware and integrated safety reviews.
- Reviewing design and verification documentation related to EHP Structural and Mechanisms systems.
- Conducting technical evaluations and safety assessments of designs, identifying areas for independent verification.
- Providing expert technical support during Program Office meetings and discussions.
- Collaborating with various technical disciplines to address challenges and advance mission objectives.
- Traveling as necessary to support project duties.
- Performing additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
We are considering candidates at various experience levels. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts effectively.
- The ability to work efficiently in dynamic environments with shifting priorities.
- Confidence in assuming a technical authority role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience with Pressurized Habitable Volumes or the Commercial Auto Industry.
- Familiarity with NASA standards and structural design practices.
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and bolted joint analysis.
- Understanding of Failure Analysis and systems engineering.
- Experience with aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with Composite Materials and spacecraft structural design.
Work Environment:
This role typically involves an office setting, with potential for both indoor and outdoor tasks. Physical requirements may include prolonged periods of sitting or standing and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
