Job Title:
Senior Mechanical Engineer

Salary:
Approximately £50,000 based on skills and experience

Key Responsibilities:


Develop innovative design concepts and solutions from foundational principles to fulfill project and client specifications, supported by sketches, calculations, and relevant documentation.

Prepare and deliver engineering documentation for internal evaluations and customer presentations. Review and endorse datasets (drawings/MBD) to ensure compliance with required standards and accurate representation of design intent.

Identify, define, and manage work packages to mitigate risks in product design early in the development phase.

Validate and verify requirements utilizing appropriate tools (e.g., DOORS) and oversee these throughout the engineering lifecycle.

Collaborate effectively across all engineering disciplines, coordinating with technical experts as necessary.


Supervise the work of mechanical engineers and technicians, assuming technical responsibility for the design solutions and technical documentation produced.

Conduct peer reviews of other mechanical engineers' work, including designs, design data, calculations, and technical reports.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:
Fulfill the criteria of UK-SPEC at the Chartered Engineer Level.


Proven experience in product development from concept to production, with a strong technical aptitude to apply knowledge and experience to resolve issues, including new technologies and innovations for complex engineering systems.


Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or demonstrable equivalent experience, with the capability to apply physics and engineering principles to derive and validate designs.

Proficiency in CAD tools (CREO) for preparing design models and technical datasets (drawings/MBD) is essential.

Desirable:


Experience in fields such as avionic systems, optical displays, mechatronics, electronics packaging, anthropometrics, composite design, additive manufacturing, and testing and measurement equipment.

Ability to utilize specialized dynamic, structural, and thermal analysis tools, including validation of their outputs.

The Design Team:


This position will provide Mechanical Engineering support for the design and development of innovative solutions, as well as troubleshooting, diagnostics, and recovery of existing products.


As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will innovate and collaborate with other Engineers/Technicians to transform ideas into detailed designs supported by calculations and reports to demonstrate compliance with requirements, including necessary risk reduction testing.

The expectation is to deliver high-quality service to clients, on schedule and within budget with minimal oversight.
