Position: Senior Staff Engineer

Key Qualifications:

  • 3-7 years of expertise in geotechnical aspects of transportation, specifically in roadway bridge design.
  • Proficient in geotechnical design methodologies.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent accredited engineering discipline.
  • Competence in utilizing geotechnical software tools such as LPile, APile, Shaft, and slope stability analysis.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification with the potential to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MicroStation design software.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer license.

Core Responsibilities:

The Senior Staff Engineer will deliver engineering and consulting services for a diverse range of transportation projects in both rural and urban settings. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and leading geotechnical and pavement-focused field investigations.
  • Performing engineering analyses, design calculations, and formulating recommendations.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports detailing services rendered.
  • Monitoring project progress and budget adherence.
  • Identifying and resolving design and construction challenges.
  • Effectively communicating complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential Duties:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and standards across all projects.
  • Engage in pre-task planning and report safety concerns to management.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout project execution.
  • Manage and execute small to medium-sized projects, occasionally handling more complex assignments.
  • Develop project scopes for routine tasks.
  • Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and relevant project documentation.
  • Analyze data and conduct engineering calculations.
  • Oversee field investigations and laboratory testing, evaluating data to formulate recommendations.
  • Coordinate project phases, schedules, and detailed work plans.
  • Collaborate closely with senior project managers to enhance project management and engineering skills.
  • Make informed design recommendations and modifications.
  • Draft work scopes, proposals, and reports for approval by senior professionals.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members.
  • Supervise field personnel, including graduate engineers and technicians.
  • Engage with clients and project teams to define service scopes and communicate project updates.

The Senior Staff Engineer will operate under the guidance of an Authorized Project Reviewer.
