Senior Geotechnical Project Leader
A reputable engineering organization is in search of a Senior Geotechnical Project Leader to oversee their growing geotechnical division. This position encompasses a wide range of duties and provides the chance to engage in various projects, such as flood control systems, levee construction, bank stabilization, and water management facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop geotechnical engineering solutions, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
- Evaluate design and construction submissions for adherence to regulations, standards, project specifications, and contractual obligations
- Conduct geotechnical assessments, including slope stability and soil investigations
- Engage with both internal teams and external stakeholders
- Carry out technical evaluations, draft proposals and reports, and collaborate with design teams and contractors
- Assist in the formulation of technical scopes of work and budget proposals
- Respond to requests for proposals related to geotechnical services
- Make informed decisions on critical design and engineering processes
- Act as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager for medium-sized projects
- Lead a small team of engineers and technicians
- Perform additional duties as required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related discipline)
- At least 10 years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Proven leadership and effective communication abilities
- Capable of producing comprehensive, clear, and organized engineering calculations and documentation
- Familiarity with applicable structural design methodologies, codes, and standards
- Willingness to travel for inspections of hydraulic structures (up to 30% travel)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Dedication to participating actively in an employee-owned culture
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering (MSCE) preferred
- Experience with dams, levees, hydraulic structures, and transportation infrastructure
- Understanding of current technical standards (USACE, LRFD)
- Active involvement in relevant professional organizations (ASCE, USSD, ASDSO)
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (gINT, Slope/W, Seep/W, APILE, LPILE, GRLWeap, Settle3D)
- Ability to create and implement designs using spreadsheets and MATHCAD
- Preference will be given to local candidates
