Culinary Services Lead

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Food Service 3 at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta.
Job Grade: C
Salary: $31,
Position Overview:
This role involves engaging in the preparation, cooking, serving, and distribution of meals. The individual will operate and maintain specialized culinary equipment while ensuring general sanitation and maintenance of facilities in accordance with federal, state, and departmental guidelines. This position also serves as a lead worker.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute job responsibilities with minimal oversight.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.
- Prepare food by cleaning, peeling, slicing, and trimming using both manual and electric tools.
- Assist with food supply requisitions and conduct sanitation and maintenance inspections.
- Coordinate daily work schedules for cashiers alongside the cafeteria manager.
- Monitor cash registers and manage cashier breaks.
- Adhere to safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Portion food or serve directly onto plates for residents, employees, or patrons, and package takeout meals.
- Prepare various food items.
- Process payments for food items.
- Replenish food supplies, condiments, and equipment at service stations.
- Act as a lead worker for assigned food service personnel.
- Store food in designated containers and areas to prevent spoilage.
- Take customer orders and provide service.
- Train staff in food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety protocols.
- Unpack and store supplies, as well as raw and prepared food products.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in operating a cash register and reconciling receipts and reports.
- Familiarity with food preparation equipment.
- Ability to comprehend and follow recipes, equipment instructions, and sanitation protocols.
- Knowledge of food handling and preparation standards.
- Understanding of health and sanitation regulations.
- Capability to perform responsibilities independently.

Important Requirement: State law mandates a national and state background check as a condition of employment for this role.
A high school diploma or GED and one year of experience in the relevant field or one year of experience at the lower level Food Service Worker 2 (FFS011) or an equivalent position is required.
