Position Overview:

This role involves engaging in the preparation, cooking, serving, and distribution of meals. The individual will operate and maintain specialized culinary equipment while ensuring general sanitation and maintenance of the facility in accordance with federal, state, and departmental regulations. This position also serves as a lead worker.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute job duties with minimal oversight.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, utensils, and dining ware.
  • Prepare food items by cleaning, peeling, slicing, and trimming using both manual and electric tools.
  • Assist with food supply requisitions and conduct sanitation inspections.
  • Coordinate daily tasks of cashiers alongside the cafeteria manager.
  • Monitor cash register operations and manage cashier breaks.
  • Adhere to safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Portion and serve food directly to residents, employees, or patrons, and package takeout meals.
  • Prepare various food items as needed.
  • Process payments for food items.
  • Restock food supplies and condiments at service stations.
  • Lead and train assigned food service staff.
  • Store food appropriately to prevent spoilage.
  • Take and fulfill customer orders.
  • Train staff in food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety protocols.
  • Unpack and store raw and prepared food supplies.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in operating cash registers and reconciling financial reports.
  • Familiarity with food preparation equipment.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow recipes and sanitation guidelines.
  • Knowledge of food handling and preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of health and sanitation standards.
  • Capability to perform tasks independently.

Compliance Requirement: State law mandates a national and state background check as a condition of employment for this role.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and one year of relevant experience or one year of experience in a lower-level food service position.
