Position: Academic Advisor for College Pathways

Location: Flexible based on advisor's location

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Competitive package including base salary, commission, equity, and benefits

Role Overview:

The Academic Advisor for College Pathways will be tasked with mentoring and guiding students throughout their middle and high school years. This position requires close collaboration with students to ensure they are adequately prepared for college applications, leveraging a structured curriculum and data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Mentorship and Guidance:

  • Assist students in navigating academic planning and the college admissions landscape, including various application platforms.
  • Conduct personalized sessions with students to evaluate their academic progress and offer tailored advice.
  • Support students in developing essential skills such as time management, effective study techniques, and setting academic and career objectives.
  • Facilitate workshops and seminars focused on academic and college preparation for students and their families.

Curriculum Delivery:

  • Implement the structured curriculum provided by Advantage College Planning to ensure consistent and effective mentorship.
  • Align all mentorship activities with the curriculum and utilize data resources to monitor student progress.

Admissions Knowledge:

  • Remain informed about the latest trends and developments in the college admissions process.
  • Offer insights and strategies to enhance the success of students' college applications.

Collaboration and Record Keeping:

  • Work collaboratively with fellow advisors and staff to exchange insights and strategies.
  • Document findings and strategies to contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the curriculum and mentorship methods.

In-Person Engagement:

  • Interact with students face-to-face to build strong relationships and provide customized support.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related discipline (Master's preferred).

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in college admissions consulting or a similar field.
  • Strong familiarity with various college application processes.

Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and a process-oriented mindset.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Exhibited curiosity and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and educational software is advantageous.
