About Walden School:
Walden School is a recognized residential therapeutic and educational program catering to deaf children and youth aged 8 to 22, many of whom have faced significant challenges and language deprivation.
About TLC:
The Learning Center for the Deaf is a leading provider of services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals and their families.
Position Summary:
The role involves executing treatment plans and ensuring the safety and well-being of children residing at Walden School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee children during daily activities and assist with essential living skills.
- Support and engage with children using techniques aligned with the treatment philosophy of Walden School.
- Establish and nurture meaningful relationships with children while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Communicate relevant information regarding students to other staff through logs and reports.
- Maintain certifications in PART, Pro-Act, OSHA, CPR, and First Aid.
- Apply behavior management strategies consistent with the mission of Walden School and individual treatment plans.
- Design and implement living skills activities tailored to the age and abilities of students.
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of experience in a residential treatment setting or a degree in Human Services preferred.
- Experience in crisis prevention and the ability to manage challenging behaviors preferred.
- Ability to remain calm and supportive during crises.
- Conversational fluency in American Sign Language is required; native or near-native fluency is preferred.
This position is open on a rotating basis until all vacancies are filled.
