About The Learning Center for the Deaf:

We are a nationally recognized leader in providing services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals, offering therapeutic and educational programs for children and youth aged 8 to 22 who have faced significant challenges, including adverse childhood experiences and language deprivation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and engage with children during daily activities, assisting them in developing essential life skills.
  • Implement and support treatment strategies aligned with the philosophy of the organization.
  • Build and maintain supportive relationships with children while ensuring appropriate boundaries.
  • Communicate important information regarding students to fellow staff members through logs and reports.
  • Maintain certifications in relevant areas including PART, Pro-Act, OSHA, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Apply behavior management techniques consistent with the organization's mission and individual treatment plans.
  • Design and facilitate living skills activities tailored to the age and abilities of the students.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a residential treatment setting or a degree in Human Services is preferred.
  • Experience in crisis prevention and the ability to manage challenging behaviors is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain composure and a supportive demeanor during crises.
  • Conversational fluency in American Sign Language is required; native or near-native fluency is preferred.
