Overview:
The Michigan Neurogenetics and Developmental Psychopathology (MiND) lab, under the direction of Dr. Luke Hyde, alongside the Translational and Developmental Neuroscience (TaD) lab, led by Christopher Monk, is seeking a Research Laboratory Coordinator/Research Assistant (Research Technician Associate).

This role involves contributing to projects that investigate the development of young adult risk and resilience through various analytical levels, utilizing techniques such as fMRI, molecular genetics, longitudinal studies, and psychiatric assessments with young adults from underprivileged backgrounds.

The Research Technician will assist in coordinating and gathering data for the SAND project, a longitudinal study examining families from the Future of Families and Child Wellbeing Study. Participants in this study are now young adults, and the lab in Michigan is focused on exploring ecological variables linked to resilience and risk in neurobehavioral systems, while also assessing the effects of structural racism on mental health and resilience outcomes. This initiative is supported by multiple grants from NIMH.

Key Responsibilities:
* (45%) Conducting participant assessments, performing home visits, and managing MRI protocols.
* (20%) Analyzing and processing data, organizing datasets, and archiving information. Collaborating on projects to efficiently manage large volumes of data and working with IT and other laboratories to develop effective IT systems for data management.
* (12.5%) Scheduling and recruiting participants, along with managing visit logistics (e.g., preparing for family visits).
* (12.5%) Assisting in project coordination (supporting lab members, aiding with IRB submissions, collaborating with other labs, and general lab maintenance).
* (10%) Training new research staff and students in the laboratory and serving as a resource throughout their tenure.

Additional Information:
This is a 12-month term-limited position with potential for renewal, ideally suited for candidates interested in a multi-year commitment. The anticipated start date is flexible.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or Associate's degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year of research experience.
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management abilities.
  • Experience engaging with families and children.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field, with a focus on clinical and developmental psychology or neuroscience.
  • Experience in areas such as psychiatric interviewing, working with underserved families, programming (e.g., Matlab, R), and fMRI processing and analysis.
