Role Summary:
Under general supervision, the Advanced Practice Provider delivers independent acute and routine medical care to a designated patient population. This role involves providing expert consultation and guidance as a highly-specialized practitioner. The position may include supervising support staff in various clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct patient consultations in a clinical environment, assisting Total Joints Surgeons.
  • Assess, diagnose, and formulate treatment plans while implementing and evaluating patient care within established practice protocols.
  • Perform comprehensive patient history and physical examinations as required for procedures or admissions.
  • Document findings meticulously, noting significant normal and abnormal results.
  • Create educational materials for patients and update necessary intake forms.
  • Engage with both pre-operative and post-operative patients, managing prescription processes.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their families to enhance health outcomes.
  • Provide educational support to patients and families regarding preventive care and medical issues.
  • Occasionally assist in surgical procedures as a first assistant.
  • Execute both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

Conditions of Employment:
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Annual TB and rubella screening may be necessary.
  • Hepatitis vaccination provided; candidates may decline or provide prior vaccination records.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check is mandatory.
  • Credentialing process may apply; maintaining credentialed status is essential.
  • Certification status must be upheld.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree; no prior experience necessary.
  • Eligible for New Mexico certification as a Physician's Assistant or State of New Mexico Certified Nurse Practitioner.
  • Higher degrees from accredited institutions may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in clinical patient care settings.
  • Familiarity with EMR Cerner Software.
  • Over two years of directly related experience.
  • Specialization in orthopaedics; experience with total joints is advantageous.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with orthopaedic surgeons, nursing staff, and other advanced practice providers.
  • Exemplary conduct, communication, and ethical decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new electronic health record systems.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development for both new and experienced practitioners.
