Job Summary

Under general supervision, provides independent acute and/or routine medical care to a specified population. Provides consultation and advice to others as a highly-specialized practitioner. May supervise support staff in an out-of-hours or remote clinical setting. We train and advance both new and experienced APP's through ongoing skill development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient history and physical examinations as needed for a range of orthopaedic problems.
  • Assess and diagnose orthopaedic conditions related to arthritis, and order appropriate studies.
  • Develop treatment plans, perform joint injections and aspirations as needed.
  • Join a dynamic and energetic diverse team of nurses, medical assistants, and surgeons in a growing practice.
  • Demonstrate independence, willingness to learn, and interest in care improvement.
  • Ability to work independently within a framework of being part of a large team.
  • Open two-way communication with all team members.
  • Demonstrate empathy and attention to detail in caring for patients.
  • Willingness to commit to the needs of patient-centered care.
Requirements
  • CPR Certified.
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
  • UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • May be subject to credentialing process; must maintain credentialed status, if applicable.
  • Must maintain certification status.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in clinical patient care.
  • Specialization in orthopaedics; Spine experience a plus.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with orthopaedic surgeons, nurses, advanced practice providers, and ambulatory staff.
  • Ability to act as a role model through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to overcome and learn a challenging EHR.
