We are seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.

The Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation is a leading academic department in the field of orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation. We are committed to providing excellent education, research, and clinical care to our patients and community.

Job Summary

The Chair of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation will provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the department's involvement in the University and the state and region. The successful candidate will have a record of advocacy across all key mission areas and a proven track record of leadership and management in an academic institution.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the department
  • Advocate for the department's interests and needs
  • Lead the department's research and education programs
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources
  • Supervise and mentor departmental faculty and staff
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

A medical degree (MD, MD-PhD, DO, or equivalent)Board certification in Orthopaedic SurgeryDemonstrated expertise appropriate for appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor at the University of New Mexico School of MedicineAt least five years of administrative and leadership experience in an academic institutionEligibility for licensure in New Mexico and eligibility to work in the United StatesPreferred Qualifications
