Visual Arts Educator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Visual Arts Educator to join our team at the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. As a Visual Arts Educator, you will be responsible for creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment that fosters the artistic growth and development of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with the curriculum and program requirements, incorporating differentiation, scaffolding, and formative and summative assessments.
- Prepare lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Provide instruction and learning experiences that promote intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
- Plan and utilize instructional strategies, learning activities, materials, equipment, and technologies to build students' content knowledge and skills.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with colleagues to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Assist in the selection of instructional materials and equipment.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
- Student Growth and Development
- Utilize a variety of ongoing formative and summative assessment measures to determine mastery of grade-level, content-area standards.
- Use data, including disaggregated data of subgroups of students, to determine the effectiveness of instruction and make instructional adjustments in response to student needs.
- Maintain accurate and efficient record-keeping of official attendance records, grade reports, student files, and other documents.
- Perform essential functions and roles pertaining to standardized testing, including monitoring and proctoring tests, securing and disseminating test data, and maintaining current and accurate records of student test data.
- Classroom Management and Organization
- Create a classroom learning environment that promotes learning and is conducive to the physical, psychological, social, and emotional well-being of students.
- Implement and maintain effective student-centered discipline techniques and classroom management strategies to maximize student learning and time on task.
- Establish and consistently monitor expectations for student behavior in and outside of class, between classes, during performances/exhibitions, and when off campus.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Communication
- Provide two-way communication with staff, students, parents, and the community.
- Communicate in a way that fosters collegiality and team building among staff members.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Professional Growth and Development
- Collaborate with core and non-core educators during professional learning and professional development.
- Collaborate to design arts-integrated, project-based learning experiences for all students.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

- Stay informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong commitment to the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts' mission and a willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of our students, families, and staff. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following skills:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned (or accepted in an approved Alternative Certification Program) and have passed the required prerequisite examinations
- Art Certification (Preferred): Art: EC-12, Junior High School, High School, Secondary, Grades 6-12, Grades 6-8, or All Level: Art
- Ability to lead, influence, and hold others accountable to high standards of academic and artistic excellence
- Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Successful criminal background check required
