Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified English Language Arts and Reading Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our campus meets high standards of organizational and academic excellence, with a strong focus on driving student achievement outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement written lesson plans that meet curriculum and program requirements, including differentiation, scaffolding, and formative and summative assessments.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate different learning styles and provide instruction and learning experiences to students to help them reach their full potential.
  • Plan and use instructional strategies, learning activities, materials, equipment, and technologies to build students' content knowledge and skills.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Work with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.

Student Growth and Development

  • Use ongoing formative and summative assessment measures to determine mastery of grade-level and content-area standards.
  • Use data to determine the effectiveness of instruction and make instructional adjustments in response to student needs.
  • Maintain accurate and efficient record-keeping of official attendance records, grade reports, student files, and other documents.
  • Perform essential functions and roles pertaining to standardized testing, including monitoring and proctoring tests, securing and disseminating test data, and maintaining current and accurate records of student test data.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Build a classroom learning environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, psychological, social, and emotional well-being of students.
  • Execute and maintain appropriate student-centered discipline techniques and effective classroom management strategies to maximize student learning and time on task.
  • Establish and consistently monitor expectations for student behavior.

Communication

  • Provide two-way communication with staff, students, parents, and the community.
  • Communicate in a way that fosters collegiality and team building among staff members.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Collaborate with core and non-core educators during professional learning and professional development.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned.
  • English as a Second Language certification preferred.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and hold others accountable to high standards of academic and artistic excellence.
  • Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Successful criminal background check required.
