Position Overview:

Systems Engineer

As a Systems Engineer at General Dynamics Information Technology, you will be instrumental in crafting straightforward solutions to intricate challenges. Your role will involve customizing state-of-the-art solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of our clients. With a focus on application development, your priority will be enhancing the user experience while we prioritize your professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, and troubleshooting of server, storage, and application infrastructures. Your duties will include:

  • Administering the operation and maintenance of server hardware and software.
  • Managing Microsoft Active Directory objects, Group Policy Objects, and DNS zones/records.
  • Maintaining system security and implementing practices and procedures, while monitoring usage statistics and logs.
  • Addressing vulnerabilities and establishing baseline configurations.
  • Implementing troubleshooting and incident response protocols.
  • Providing leadership and mentorship to junior administrators.
  • Deeply understanding networking architecture for server and application design and troubleshooting.
  • Staying updated on operating systems/software analysis and technological advancements.
  • Advising management on future project directions.
  • Offering expertise in the development, modification, and documentation of software programs to enhance operating systems.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or 2+ years of equivalent experience.
  • DOD 8570 compliant (Network + / Security + certified).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering.
  • Familiarity with VMWare vCenter/vSphere 6.7 or higher.
  • Experience with VMware Horizon VDI Desktops and Applications.
  • Knowledge of NAS/SAN storage architectures and protocols.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Server 2016/2019/2022.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • High-level networking knowledge.
  • Ability to operate at a high technical level across all phases of systems engineering activities.
  • Strong communication and briefing skills; effective listening and follow-through.
  • Detail-oriented and organized; capable of understanding information systems and ensuring work accuracy.
  • Providing technical guidance and leadership to less experienced engineers and administrators.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnects and Servers.
  • Familiarity with NetApp AFF/FAS Storage.
  • Experience with F5 Load Balancers.
  • Knowledge of Azure Cloud services.
  • Experience with Rubrik Backup solutions.
  • MCITP or equivalent preferred.
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certification.

Security Requirements:

  • TS/SCI Clearance Required.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift over 35 LBS.
