Responsibilities

Program Overview

Our Specialized Crisis Services program caters to children and adolescents under 18 who are facing crises such as suicidal thoughts, violent behavior, or severe psychological disturbances. The program is dedicated to collaborating with the client, their family, and other key stakeholders to evaluate risks against protective factors to ensure safety for the client and others involved. Our approach emphasizes utilizing the least restrictive environment possible. The Youth Villages' SCS Program employs a systematic treatment model focusing on family engagement to drive change through family, educational, community, and peer interactions; staff receive intensive training in assessment, crisis management, in-home treatment, and respite care.

Position Overview

  • Deliver mobile crisis intervention and comprehensive, strength-based evaluations of children and families in distress within their natural settings.
  • Utilize crisis respite facilities when deemed appropriate.
  • Provide continuous treatment and support to stabilize families until suitable services are arranged.
  • Work during non-traditional hours.
  • Maintain flexibility in your schedule.
  • Collaborate effectively in a highly supervised environment.
  • Utilize online documentation accessible from home.
  • Engage with adult crisis teams and community stakeholders.
  • Travel may extend over a 60+ mile radius from the office.
  • Attendance at meetings may be required on days off.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record - no more than three moving violations within the past 36 months.

Additional Information

Work schedules vary and will be discussed in detail during the interview process. Most crisis assessments are conducted in person, but virtual assessments may also occur.

Schedules are flexible and non-traditional, designed around the availability of the youth and families served. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, a personal vehicle for work-related purposes, and auto insurance. Community-based staff will be reimbursed for eligible mileage.

Salary

$58,000 per year, contingent upon education and clinical licensure.

Qualifications

Requirements

A Master's degree in a clinical or mental health discipline is essential.

Candidates nearing completion of a mental health or clinical Master's degree may be considered. Acceptable degrees include: Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy. Other degrees will be evaluated to determine eligibility.

One year of clinical experience with youth is preferred. Candidates who are provisionally licensed or pursuing licensure are strongly encouraged to apply (LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT).

Strong written, verbal, and oral communication skills are required. Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously is essential. Basic computer proficiency is necessary. Flexibility in scheduling is a must. Counselors must have their own vehicle for work-related purposes and maintain liability insurance.

Acceptable driving record - no more than three moving violations within the past 36 months.
