Responsibilities:
Program Overview


The Child Welfare Specialist (CWS) position involves collaborating closely with the Department of Children Services (DCS) to deliver essential services to youth and families under state custody in Tennessee.

Position Overview

CWSs act as guardians for youth and must be well-versed in DCS policies that dictate care and services.


They oversee cases from both legal and permanency viewpoints, responsible for formulating and monitoring permanency plans to ensure that youth and families receive adequate support and services.

CWSs manage a caseload of 15-20 cases

Intensive yet adaptable schedule.

CWSs provide services in the family’s residence or other necessary locations (such as schools or courts) and adjust session timings to accommodate family needs; on-call rotation is mandatory.

CWSs ensure that all medical, dental, and educational requirements are fulfilled and are tasked with maintaining comprehensive records for each child.

Documentation is accessible online and can be managed from home.

Specialists engage with supervisors at least three times weekly to discuss progress and personal growth.

Additional Information

Our leadership team is consistently available for support in challenging situations.

All specialists undergo an extensive training program designed to enhance clinical skills.

Schedules are flexible and non-traditional, tailored around the availability of the youth and families served.

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, a personal vehicle for work-related tasks, and auto insurance.

Community-based staff will receive reimbursement for applicable mileage.

Salary

$58,000 per year, contingent upon education and clinical licensure.

Qualifications:
Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in a social service field is essential.


Acceptable degrees include social work, drug and alcohol education or counseling, psychology, criminal justice, guidance counseling, or marriage and family therapy.

Other degrees will require further evaluation to determine qualification compliance.

Experience in case management is preferred.

Strong written, verbal, and oral communication skills are necessary.

Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.

Basic computer proficiency is required.

Flexibility in scheduling is essential.

Applicants must have their own vehicle for work purposes and hold liability insurance.

Acceptable driving record - Three or fewer moving violations within the past 36 months.
