Position Overview

Ares Enterprise is in search of a proficient and seasoned Financial Controller to spearhead our accounting division. The successful applicant will possess a robust understanding of accounting standards, familiarity with Unanet and Paylocity platforms, and comprehensive knowledge of DCAA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

The Financial Controller will be tasked with:

  • Managing and supervising all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and tax obligations.
  • Ensuring precise and timely financial disclosures in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and DCAA standards.
  • Preparing financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for both management and external stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Guaranteeing adherence to federal, state, and local reporting mandates and tax submissions.
  • Leading and mentoring the accounting team, offering guidance and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Establishing and upholding internal controls to protect company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Utilizing Unanet for project accounting and financial oversight, ensuring timely and accurate data management.
  • Employing Paylocity for payroll administration, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and organizational policies.
  • Conducting regular audits to verify compliance with DCAA standards.
  • Collaborating with project leaders and other departments to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Managing relationships with external auditors and facilitating the annual audit process.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proficiency in Unanet and Paylocity systems is essential.
  • In-depth understanding of DCAA regulations.
  • Strong grasp of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
