Overview

SOS International LLC is seeking an Assistant Controller to be an integral member of our corporate accounting group. This is a full-time position at our corporate headquarters in Reston, Virginia and reports to the Corporate Controller.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of all accounting records, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) to include Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including development and implementation of best practices.
  • Review and approve the preparation of monthly journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Serve as a key liaison with external auditors during annual audits, interim reviews, and other audit-related activities including state tax compliance activity. This includes preparing audit schedules and documentation to auditors in a timely manner, coordinating audit planning meetings, interim fieldwork and reviewing audit findings and recommendations and working to develop action plans for resolution.
  • Develop, monitor and maintain internal controls and safeguards for the Company's accounting transactions, assets, and operations.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor adherence to company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Serve as key liaison with company tax preparers in preparation of federal and state tax returns. Includes managing and/or developing tax support schedules and analysis to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Manage local tax filings and requirements.
  • Manage and maintain the company's indirect cost rate structure.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
  • Evaluate and improve financial systems and processes to support operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Perform special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis as assigned by the CFO and Controller.

Minimum Requirements

  • 15+ years experience in an accounting role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA is required.
  • Experience with accounting for Federal Government Contracts.
  • Experience with job cost accounting systems (Deltek Costpoint strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of and experience applying accounting theory and GAAP.
  • Strong understanding of and experience applying the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), including Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Proven track record in accounting operations and process improvement.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of working on projects independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good personal computer and business solutions software skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA in Accounting or Finance
  • Prior supervisory experience
