Lead Financial Reporting Accountant

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Generate supporting documentation for designated sections of the annual and quarterly financial reports, including primary preparation duties for essential financial statements, footnotes, and Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) disclosures.
• Leverage the Financial Reporting System (FRS) and relevant platforms to collect data for disclosures in the annual and quarterly financial reports, ensuring compliance with current SEC/U.S. GAAP standards and industry best practices.
• Update spreadsheets and/or Workiva using FRS data submissions and Excel templates to compute combined disclosures for the quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Monitor and maintain all FRS/Excel template submissions to ensure version control, guaranteeing that the most accurate data is utilized for the preparation of combined totals.
• Evaluate financial statement and disclosure information submitted (via FRS and/or Excel templates) and follow up with the appropriate personnel regarding any unusual figures or discrepancies between the financial statements and disclosure data.
• Strive to meet the pre-established timeline for the distribution of combining statements, draft reports, and publication of the quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Collaborate with external auditors by providing necessary support during their annual audit and quarterly financial statement review.
• Conduct technical research and analysis on accounting and financial reporting inquiries and assist with accounting research projects alongside the Accounting Policy group and other special initiatives, as required.
• Aid in the administration and development of FRS, Workiva/Wdesk, and the Hub, as necessary.
• Support the department's involvement in various Controller's group subcommittees as needed.
• Deliver customer service to personnel as required.
• Promote the diversity and inclusion strategy by adhering to policies and procedures that ensure opportunities for employees and diverse business partners.
• Assist with additional job responsibilities as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
• A bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
• Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (or CPA candidate) is preferred.
• Experience in public accounting and/or relevant SEC experience is required; experience in banking/mortgage banking is preferred.
• Strong technical and research skills, including knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accounting and financial reporting issues, and SEC regulations.
• Proficiency in Excel, Adobe, and Wdesk (by Workiva).
• Ability to initiate and complete work assignments efficiently and on time, with minimal supervision.
• Proven problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Capacity to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of performance.
• Self-motivated, customer service-oriented, and eager to learn.
• Ability to influence various accounting personnel to achieve consensus on accounting policy and disclosure matters.
• Capability to listen and integrate diverse perspectives, build and maintain respectful relationships, collaborate with others, and resolve conflicts constructively.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
