Senior Web Engineer

Role Summary

The Senior Web Engineer is a seasoned full-stack development role suited for individuals with relevant education and a minimum of 4 years of professional experience. Key responsibilities include the design, development, and upkeep of both internal and external web applications. Proficiency in front-end UI/UX design and modern PHP frameworks is highly valued. The individual will work autonomously with business stakeholders to gather project requirements and translate them into technical specifications that define the web application's appearance and functionality. Collaboration with team members during projects is essential to uphold coding standards and conduct peer reviews, all while working with minimal supervision. The role also involves mentoring and providing constructive feedback to fellow developers to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. Continuous learning and participation in initiatives that enhance the team's internal environment, frameworks, and standards are also expected.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance existing web applications
  • Develop innovative, clean, and sustainable projects
  • Design user-friendly and responsive web interfaces
  • Test, debug, and validate all code projects, providing technical documentation as required
  • Create and modify graphic assets for development purposes
  • Facilitate project meetings and collaborate with team members and business stakeholders to gather project requirements
  • Work within an agile framework utilizing SCRUM methodologies
  • Communicate project status and deliverables effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Utilize version control systems and modern integrated development environments (IDEs)
  • Participate in database design and maintenance efforts
  • Review code for compliance with coding standards, offering feedback and guidance as necessary
  • Research and evaluate new technologies for potential integration

Technical Skills
  • Expertise in PHP and modern object-oriented programming principles, including frameworks and tools such as Yii, Laravel, and Composer
  • Proficiency in modern web markup languages, including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, Angular, Ionic, and React
  • Proficient in relational databases like MSSQL, DB2, and MySQL
  • Familiarity with asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, AJAX, and JSON
  • Experience with web application lifecycle development methodologies, deployment practices, and version control systems
  • Knowledge of PHP coding standards such as PSR-12, PSR-5, and PSR-19
  • Understanding of graphic design tools, including Illustrator and Photoshop
Additional Technical Skills (optional)
  • Experience in API development
  • Familiarity with web standards compliance, such as WCAG 2.1 and CCPA
  • Understanding of test-driven development and automated testing
  • Familiarity with Linux terminal usage (or WSL)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited four-year university or technical school in a computer application development discipline, focusing on web technologies
  • Four to seven years of relevant web development experience
  • GitHub or other code examples (preferred)
Working Conditions

Work is conducted in an office environment, which may involve prolonged periods of sitting. Other physical activities include talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual requirements may include color and depth perception necessary for preparing and analyzing code, graphics, and data. Additional physical and intellectual activities include the ability to operate a personal computer using both a keyboard and a pointing device, such as a mouse, which is essential for extensive reading.
