Motion Recruitment is seeking a Materials Manager to enhance our operations.

***This Position Offers a 12-Month Contract with Potential for Permanent Placement***

As the Materials Manager, you will be responsible for formulating and executing strategies that optimize the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials essential for electrical projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify process efficiencies and collaborate with stakeholders to implement effective solutions.
  • Utilize technology to gather, monitor, organize, analyze, and report on inventory levels.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to anticipate material requirements for current and future projects.
  • Coordinate with logistics and transportation providers to ensure timely delivery of materials to project locations and manage the return of materials as necessary.
  • Maintain oversight of material tracking and organization at job laydown sites.
  • Engage with Supply Chain for sourcing materials, assist in price negotiations, and review supplier contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality standards.
  • Supervise receiving, inspection, and storage operations to comply with safety and quality regulations.
  • Manage inventory levels within conex boxes and monitor material usage to avoid shortages or surplus during project execution and transitions.
  • Conduct site visits to assess material setups and identify areas for improvement in material management by labor crews.
  • Generate and maintain reports for tracking and status updates, providing insights to executive leadership as required.
  • Effectively communicate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Leadership regarding any issues, concerns, or opportunities.
  • Meet with vendors to address product quality issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with Storeroom Management to ensure compliance with expectations in project facilities.
  • Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to uncover opportunities for cost savings and process enhancements.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors to promote long-term partnerships and efficiency improvements.
  • Implement best practices for material handling, storage, and disposal to reduce waste and enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in material management, procurement, or supply chain roles within the electrical sector.
  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and civil materials, components, and equipment.
  • Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and safety standards pertinent to material handling and storage in the electrical industry.
