Position Overview:
This role is integral to the operations of the Valparaiso Family YMCA, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing community well-being through youth development, health initiatives, and social responsibility.

Role Responsibilities:
The Housekeeping Associate is tasked with ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the facility, providing a welcoming and sanitary environment for all members.

Compensation:
$13.50 per hour

Work Schedule:
Mornings, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Key Duties Include:

  • Maintaining cleanliness across all facility areas and grounds.
  • Executing deep cleaning tasks as assigned.
  • Handling heavy-duty cleaning tasks, including floor scrubbing and locker room sanitation.
  • Organizing and maintaining cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting any issues to supervisors.
  • Responding promptly to emergency cleaning needs while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Following all safety procedures and reporting any incidents or hazards.
  • Complying with all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Ensuring the security of the building during shifts and reporting any irregularities.
  • Cleaning up potentially hazardous materials, with training provided.
  • Operating motorized cleaning equipment.
  • Accepting additional responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong reliability and work ethic.
  • Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial roles is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong communication abilities to interact effectively with staff and members.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 45 days of employment, with training provided.

Work Environment:
Ability to work in various conditions, including high heat, cold temperatures, and humid or dusty environments. Physical stamina is required to perform tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
