SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

The Bakery Operations Supervisor is tasked with establishing and upholding systems and protocols for the procurement, storage, and preparation of all food items within the Bakery, alongside menu design and enhancement. This role aids in forecasting and financial oversight for the unit. It involves coordinating and overseeing staff concerning production, merchandising, quality assurance, and cost management; including labor scheduling, staffing, and employee development. The supervisor conducts regular inventory assessments and maintains records to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

This position manages the daily operations of the Bakery while safeguarding, promoting, and enhancing the Family Express brand identity. It ensures adherence to sanitation and safety standards in all relevant areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Aligns with the company's vision and mission

  • Develops, implements, and maintains all operational policies and procedures for the bakery.
  • Plans, directs, and oversees all food service operations and resources to achieve financial and operational objectives.

  • Minimizes food costs through effective training, cost management, and labor optimization
  • Assists in the creation, oversight, and maintenance of financial reporting, including annual budget preparation.
  • Responsible for crafting a comprehensive strategy for new product development, product launches, promotions, pricing, and merchandising of all food service offerings.
  • Coordinates the activities of production staff in the bakery and communicates any production changes to management.
  • Oversees all bakery operations, including recruitment, coaching, training, and development of staff that aligns with company culture.
  • In collaboration with the Procurement Manager, manages the purchasing and receiving of food and supplies, while monitoring inventory levels. Ensures the health and safety of employees and the public.
  • Ensures all vendors are informed of and adhere to the Family Express vendor policy
  • Keeps accurate food production records
  • Develops recipes and production schedules that maximize customer satisfaction while minimizing ingredient and labor expenses
  • Controls inventory and procurement costs
  • Spends a portion of time managing bakery production by working on the floor as needed.
  • Maintains a safe working environment
  • Commits to continuous improvement processes
  • Reports risk-related information to management, operations, and accounting as necessary
  • Completes all scheduled performance evaluations
  • In the absence of the Quality and Safety Manager, assumes their responsibilities
  • Undertakes special projects as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position supervises Bakery Team Leads and Bakery Associates.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Requires flexibility to work all days of the week as needed. Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures and exposure to cleaning agents.

TRAVEL

Minimal travel outside of daily visits to Family Express locations is anticipated for this role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
