This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, healthy, and well-maintained area of assignment. The successful candidate will assist in accomplishing building service duties in various locations and job assignments due to employee or supervisor absence.
Key Responsibilities- Perform manual work in a variety of cleaning duties in and around university buildings and facilities, including classrooms, lab rooms, offices, residence halls, guest rooms, and restrooms.
- Assist in accomplishing building service duties in various locations and job assignments due to employee or supervisor absence.
- Act as back-up/fill-in for Building Services Technician and Building Services Supervisor.
- Perform building services work in addition to directing and coordinating staff, as needed to accomplish work goals.
- Provide additional work assistance to custodians as directed by Building Service Supervisor.
- Strive to create and contribute to a pleasant work environment by treating all levels of staff with respect and co-operation.
- Works as an individual or as part of a team to meet and exceed standards for assigned staff with respect and co-operation.
- Promotes a positive team spirit within the department and the workplace.
- Unlock/lock buildings.
- Keep entrances safe and clean.
- Cleans spills, soiled areas and other conditions as observed and or directed.
- Maintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition, and are properly stored.
- Ensures work areas are safe and that procedures regarding cleaners or objects are strictly adhered to.
- Stock all equipment and supply carts with adequate supplies.
- Ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Report maintenance and repair needs via the work order system.
- Work with Building Services Supervisor to promote safety.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Required 1-2 years related experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.
- Must present a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.
- Must be in good physical health; walking/standing, reaching, bending/twisting, kneeling/crouching/crawling, lifting, forceful gripping/grasping, pushing, pulling or repetitive motion about 95% of the time.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push/pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate low and high impact tools.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Work from a ladder and work with arms and hands overhead.
- Must be able to work well with little or no supervision and take direction.
- Must be able to maintain a courteous, friendly, and helpful attitude with individuals on campus.
- Must be cooperative and willing to help fellow coworkers at all times.
- Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces.
