We are currently seeking an IT Support Specialist. This position involves professional responsibilities in the upkeep, installation, and troubleshooting of computers, software, and mobile technology within the Office of Administration (OA) for the Department of Human Services (DHS). The role is carried out independently, with general oversight from the Desktop Support Team Lead, who evaluates and guides the assigned tasks.

The primary duty of the IT Support Specialist is to assist in the implementation and maintenance of the DHS desktop computing environment and associated peripherals. The specialist will support an enterprise-level desktop computing infrastructure and manage a variety of complex business applications. It is essential that the solutions provided align with business objectives while fostering a high level of user trust and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deploy IT-related equipment.
  • Deliver comprehensive enterprise IT workstation support to end users.
  • Address issues and respond to inquiries regarding the computing environment.
  • Engage vendor support when necessary to resolve technical problems.
  • Act as a technical liaison for the user community.
  • Document incidents and issues, escalating them to the appropriate engineering team as needed.
  • Install and update software and operating systems.
  • Set up and troubleshoot computer equipment and mobile devices at user locations as required.
  • Assess and recommend training options to meet user needs.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports.
  • Evaluate and suggest hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.
  • Guide users on hardware and software best practices.
  • Support equipment inventory, maintenance contracts, and warranties.
  • Provide off-hours support as scheduled by the Team Lead or Managers.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience and education, with 1-3 years of experience in providing Information Technology end-user support.
  • A valid PA Driver's License, insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle are required.
  • In-depth knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and experience with remote troubleshooting tools.
  • Ability to track and monitor the progress of issues using standard best practices and procedures to identify solutions.
  • Capacity to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence while managing client expectations.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft In-Tune and Azure AD is preferred.
  • Knowledge of supporting current versions of Windows 10, Windows 11, and Microsoft 365.
  • Understanding of standard principles and practices of IT Desktop Support and Cybersecurity.
  • Familiarity with the capabilities, requirements, uses, and applications of computers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
  • Knowledge of networking equipment, including routers, hubs, switches, and Ethernet cables.
  • Willingness to travel to DHS offices as needed for maintenance, installation, and repair of computer and mobile device equipment and software.
