Key Responsibilities:

This role serves as the lead for construction projects, overseeing a team of construction inspectors, office engineers, and additional support staff to ensure that all project work aligns with contract specifications. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all project activities are executed on schedule, within budget, and according to the quality standards outlined in the contract.
  • Maintaining adherence to approved safety plans and environmental regulations.
  • Monitoring and managing project schedules and milestones, identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Reviewing contractor payment requests for accuracy and processing approvals in a timely manner.
  • Preparing Change Orders and assessing extra work requests, conducting engineering cost analyses to support negotiations.
  • Evaluating constructability challenges and providing effective solutions.
  • Coordinating with contractors and stakeholders to resolve scheduling conflicts and delays.
  • Leading project progress meetings and other coordination sessions.
  • Keeping clients informed about project status and addressing any issues that arise.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of civil construction practices and principles, particularly in complex highway and bridge projects; strong analytical skills to assess constructability issues and propose effective solutions; proficiency in CPM scheduling and report preparation; exceptional leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Minimum Qualifications:
General Experience: A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in various roles within civil construction projects. Must hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in CT.

Special Experience: At least six (6) years of field experience in civil construction and four (4) years of supervisory experience overseeing lower-level project staff.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with federally funded projects, ACI Certification, NETTCP certifications in Concrete, HMA Paving, Soils and Aggregate, ATSSA Traffic Control Technician, and OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health.

Special Requirements:
Candidates must possess and maintain a valid PE or CCM certification, a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License, and auto insurance. Reliable transportation is essential.

Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be capable of performing work year-round in various weather conditions, including off-hours and weekends as necessary. Adequate physical ability is required to ensure effective job performance.

Working Conditions:
Must be prepared to work in diverse weather conditions throughout the year, including evenings and weekends when required.
