Key Responsibilities:

This role serves as the lead for construction projects, managing a team of construction inspectors, office engineers, and additional support staff to ensure all project work aligns with contract specifications. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring project execution is on schedule, within budget, and meets quality standards as outlined in contract specifications.
  • Maintaining adherence to approved safety plans and environmental regulations.
  • Monitoring project CPM schedules and milestones, identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Evaluating contractor payment requests, ensuring billing accuracy, and processing payments promptly.
  • Preparing Change Orders, assessing extra work requests, and conducting engineering cost analyses to support negotiations.
  • Analyzing constructability challenges and providing effective solutions.
  • Coordinating with contractors and stakeholders to resolve scheduling conflicts and delays.
  • Leading project progress meetings and other coordination sessions.
  • Keeping clients informed of project status and any issues that arise.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of civil construction practices and principles applicable to complex highway and bridge projects; ability to analyze constructability issues and propose effective solutions; strong technical skills in CPM scheduling and report preparation; excellent leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Minimum Qualifications:

General Experience: A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in various roles on civil construction projects. Must hold a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in CT. Proven ability to lead and manage CE&I project staff effectively.

Special Experience: At least six (6) years of field experience in civil construction and four (4) years of supervisory experience overseeing lower-level project staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with federally funded projects.
  • Certifications such as ACI, NETTCP Concrete, NETTCP HMA Paving, NETTCP Soils and Aggregate, ATSSA Traffic Control Technician, and OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health.

Special Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid PE or CCM certification.
  • Must have a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License and auto insurance.
  • Reliable transportation is required.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to work year-round in varying weather conditions, including off-hours and weekends as necessary.

Working Conditions:
Must be capable of performing work throughout the year under diverse weather conditions, including off-hours and weekends when required.
