POSITION SUMMARY:

The Youth Development Facilitator will support the Corps Officers in the daily management and execution of comprehensive youth initiatives for the local Corps. This role involves leading youth engagement and outreach programs, which includes planning, resource allocation, volunteer training, and adherence to The Salvation Army's program standards. The facilitator will collaborate with the Corps Officers to create outreach strategies aimed at attracting new participants from the community, including those involved in the After School Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Act as the primary contact for parents interested in enrolling their children in youth programs.
  2. Design and deliver lessons, leading Sunday school sessions using approved educational materials.
  3. Ensure accurate attendance tracking for all youth activities.
  4. Reach out to families whose children have not attended programs recently.
  5. Communicate effectively about children's ministries to parents, program leaders, and the community, including a monthly newsletter.
  6. Organize and execute special events for children, such as Family Outreach initiatives and seasonal celebrations.
  7. Coordinate transportation for youth attending programs, particularly on weekends.
  8. Assist in the planning and execution of the ENCORE worship arts initiative.
  9. Maintain and organize youth ministry supplies throughout the year.
  10. Plan and oversee all aspects of an annual Vacation Bible School, including promotional materials and volunteer recruitment.
  11. Encourage youth participation in divisional and territorial events.
  12. Attend relevant training sessions to stay updated on youth ministry trends.
  13. Lead chapel services and provide biblical instruction for children in after-school and early education programs.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

General Duties:

  1. Assist Corps Officers with training and record-keeping related to child safety protocols for volunteers.
  2. Prepare resources for troop leaders and submit reports to Corps Officers.
  3. Serve as a troop leader when necessary.
  4. Support the Corps Cadet Counselor with resource needs.
  5. Plan and implement creative arts and music programs for youth.
  6. Assist with camper recruitment for summer camps.
  7. Engage with youth in community centers and after-school programs.
  8. Participate in monthly Corps Council meetings.
  9. Attend all required staff meetings and events.
  10. Assist with community fundraising initiatives as needed.
  11. Organize weekly youth group meetings.
  12. Track and report statistical data as required.
  13. Oversee volunteer recruitment and management.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 2 years of college education and 2 years of experience in youth work.
  2. Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
  3. High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  4. Familiarity with Salvation Army youth programs is preferred.
  5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  6. Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  7. Experience with social media communication.
  8. Commitment to Christian values and ability to discuss faith with youth.
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Education and Experience:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree is a plus.
  2. Two years of experience in youth ministry.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to Christian discipleship.
  4. Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  5. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a team.

Certificates and Licenses:

  1. Valid California Class C Driver License required.
  2. Must be at least 21 years old.
  3. Complete required vehicle training.
  4. Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to perform various physical activities, including lifting up to 70 lbs.
  2. Ability to operate office equipment and tools.
