POSITION SUMMARY

The Referral Coordination Specialist plays a crucial role in managing patient referrals within the healthcare system, ensuring seamless communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate the processing of referrals initiated by physicians to specialist or ancillary services based on patients' insurance plans.
  • Authenticate and manage insurance authorizations as necessary, utilizing relevant insurance platforms.
  • Organize, prioritize, and maintain patient referral records efficiently.
  • Collect pertinent information from healthcare facilities, patients, and insurance representatives.
  • Ensure that referrals and corresponding patient documentation are transmitted to the appropriate offices.
  • Respond to incoming calls and address patient inquiries promptly.
  • Follow up with specialist offices regarding referrals and confirm appointment scheduling.
  • Maintain effective communication with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance entities.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols in accordance with HIPAA regulations and InterMed policies.
  • Perform additional tasks to support the overarching mission and values of InterMed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare plans and medical terminology is advantageous.
  • Experience in authorization intake is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong professional judgment and communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications and electronic medical records systems.
  • Capability to operate telephone systems proficiently.
  • Consistently meet performance and quality standards.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
