Position Overview

The Clinical Inbox Nurse Specialist is a versatile position that offers flexibility with opportunities for remote work. This role is primarily focused on managing provider inbox communications within Martin's Point Healthcare's Primary Care Practice. While remote work is available, periodic on-site presence is required. The Clinical Inbox Nurse Specialist will collaborate with departments including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatric Medicine, and Sports Medicine across various locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manages and updates patient charts by reviewing consult notes and identifying significant changes for provider assessment.
  • Prioritizes urgent patient issues, escalating them to the appropriate clinical staff or providers for prompt resolution.
  • Facilitates communication between patients and Primary Care Providers, including forwarding messages, clarifying patient inquiries, and relaying provider instructions.
  • Processes medication refill requests by verifying patient details, confirming prescription information with providers, and coordinating with pharmacies as necessary.
  • Monitors and communicates the status of diagnostic tests, specialist referrals, and follow-up care.
  • Ensures timely responses to patient inquiries, test results, medication refills, and other health-related matters via the patient portal.
  • Coordinates appointment scheduling based on provider availability and patient requirements.
  • Provides guidance and information to patients regarding their health concerns, treatment plans, and self-care strategies through both written and verbal communication.
  • Maintains comprehensive and accurate records of all communications and actions taken in response to patient messages, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in nursing; Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience is required.
  • Experience in Primary Care is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure in Maine (Compact License required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrates alignment with the mission and vision of Martin's Point.
  • Ability to research and devise innovative solutions to patient and coordination challenges.
  • Maintains meticulous and accurate documentation.
  • Proficient in computer systems, electronic medical records, typing, and phone systems.
  • Exhibits effective communication skills with both providers and patients.
  • Proactively seeks the latest policies and procedures, staying informed on Clear Triage protocols.
  • Flexibility in hours to accommodate clinic and staff needs.
  • Adheres to established protocols.
  • Upholds patient confidentiality at all times.
