Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team at InterMed, P.A. This role is essential in ensuring smooth patient care operations and assisting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties Include:

  • Evaluating provider schedules and optimizing patient flow.
  • Supporting healthcare providers with patient management:
    • Preparing examination rooms and welcoming patients.
    • Maintaining patient data and compliance with healthcare regulations.
    • Conducting medication reviews for uncomplicated medication regimens.
    • Measuring vital signs and recording patient weight.
    • Executing point-of-care tests as instructed by healthcare providers.
    • Carrying out screenings according to established guidelines.
    • Assisting in clinical procedures as required.
    • Administering injections and vaccinations as directed.
    • Entering patient care orders following provider documentation.
    • Accurately recording all clinical information in the patient's electronic health record (EHR).
    • Facilitating patient communications under provider supervision.
    • Preparing patient records prior to scheduled visits.
    • Managing medication refills in accordance with established protocols.
    • Ensuring examination rooms are stocked, organized, and sanitized.
    • Upholding a safe and hygienic clinical environment.
    • Maintaining clinical equipment through regular checks and necessary repairs.
    • Overseeing the inventory of clinical supplies and ordering as needed.
    • Accurately documenting all vaccination records.
    • Assisting with administrative tasks such as:
      • Gathering lab and imaging reports.
      • Collecting referral information.
      • Completing necessary forms and requisitions.
      • Coordinating with colleagues and vendors.
    • Exhibiting strong professional judgment and communication skills.
    • Collaborating effectively with team members.
    • Demonstrating initiative and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
    • Prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
    • Providing exceptional customer service to patients.
    • Maintaining confidentiality and compliance in all patient interactions.

    • Meeting clinical competence expectations as outlined by providers.

    Qualifications

Medical Assistant:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, preferably with an Associate's Degree; current CMA or RMA certification is required or must be obtained shortly after hiring.

Registered Nurse:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Active, unencumbered registered nurse licensure in the state of Maine.

General Requirements:

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Proficiency in Windows applications; experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
Compensation

Compensation for Medical Assistants: Competitive hourly rates based on experience.

Compensation for Registered Nurses: Competitive hourly rates based on experience.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday schedule, requiring 36 to 40 hours per week with minimal weekend commitments.
