Our premier offering, Skylark, is a comprehensive GNSS corrections service that ensures centimeter-level navigation accuracy. With a robust global network of GNSS stations and advanced data center architecture, we guarantee 99.9% uptime and an impressive reliability rate of fewer than 1 failure per 1,142 years of operation. To illustrate our capabilities, we process 1.4 billion satellite signals every hour.

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to spearhead the team responsible for the architecture and applications that power the Skylark service. This team is composed of talented engineers with diverse skill sets, ranging from large-scale distributed systems architecture to front-end application development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers dedicated to designing, developing, and deploying cloud services and applications utilized by millions of vehicles in real-time.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Program teams to define, manage, and execute the team's strategic roadmap.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality services that align with the company's short and long-term goals.
  • Foster a collaborative environment at Swift, encouraging open dialogue and effective conflict resolution.
  • Promote a workplace culture that values teamwork, support, and effective collaboration.
  • Oversee the 24/7 operation of Skylark Applications, implementing best practices to enhance uptime and reliability.
  • Provide accurate time estimates and scoping for work products; efficiently manage resources and proactively plan for future needs.
  • Guide and direct team members to align their work with functional and company strategies, as well as software development best practices.
  • Mentor and develop staff, including overseeing onboarding, providing regular feedback, and facilitating career growth opportunities.
  • Articulate and execute a clear vision for the team.
  • Enhance engineering quality through appropriate processes and automation.
  • Maintain a positive team culture through regular communication and feedback mechanisms.
  • Clarify roles and decision-making processes within the team.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading a team of 5 or more software engineers.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, Rust, or Python.
  • Experience in architecting, operating, and managing enterprise-grade cloud services.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and front-end frameworks, including React.
  • Knowledge of authentication systems and security best practices.
  • Experience with streaming data infrastructure and REST APIs.
  • Proficient in relational databases (Postgres/MySQL) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented yet adaptable approach.
  • Ability to lead and drive progress amidst uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Commitment to people management, fostering development and engagement within the team.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership across teams.
  • High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with proficiency in English.
  • A passion for continuous learning and professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in software development for regulated industries (e.g., automotive, aerospace, medical devices) and familiarity with relevant standards.
  • Experience with real-time sensor networks such as GNSS and weather stations.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks for large-scale distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of ETL best practices and data visualization techniques.
  • Experience with gRPC and MQTT.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $177,000 - $225,000 + equity + benefits.
