Job Description:

The District Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple liquor stores within a designated district. This individual will be accountable for ensuring that each store meets operational sales and labor goals, while also enforcing all operational liquor store practices and compliance with special laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to liquor store managers to ensure smooth store operations and meet sales and labor goals.
  • Develop and implement action plans for promotional events to maximize sales and achieve merchandising goals.
  • Evaluate competitive market information to identify trends that affect liquor store sales.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure that each store is stocked with the necessary products.
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring liquor store managers and employees, and provide recommendations for top talent.
  • Ensure that liquor store procedures are being followed consistently, and provide coaching and training to store managers as needed.
  • Observe stores for evidence of shrinkage and develop strategies to reduce shrinkage and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Support and model safety in the store, and ensure that store personnel practices are safe and compliant.
  • Participate in evaluating the performance of liquor store managers, and provide recommendations for personnel actions such as retention, promotion, or dismissal.
  • Develop and maintain a friendly atmosphere and good morale in the stores by providing feedback and recognition to employees, and addressing their questions and concerns.
  • Ensure that department conditions meet company standards.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of supervisory/management experience in merchandise receiving, handling, and stocking in other retail or warehouse/distribution environments.
  • Strong enforcement of operational and management practices.
  • Proficient analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, able to interact with managers, employees, and customers.
  • Excellent reading and writing communication skills required.
  • Proficient in MS Office skills or similar package.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

Physical Demands:

Sitting, pushing, and pulling up to 150 Ibs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and smelling.

Carrying up to 50 Ibs, climbing up to 6-foot height, walking on tile/concrete, bending, and reaching waist/overhead level.

Other:

  • Varied, irregular schedules.
  • Travel from location to location within city.
