Position Title: Senior Commercial Credit Analyst

DEPARTMENT:
Commercial Lending

REPORTS TO: SVP/Portfolio Manager


This role is essential in providing exceptional support for commercial loan operations, directly reporting to the SVP/Portfolio Manager.

The Senior Commercial Credit Analyst will assist in the ongoing oversight of assigned loan portfolios and will be responsible for the analysis and underwriting of both new and existing loans, focusing on the evaluation of borrowers' credit histories and financial health.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the SVP/Portfolio Manager in overseeing the credit analyst team, including workflow management, turnaround time optimization for loan applications, and providing technical underwriting assistance as needed. Facilitate the development and execution of a structured annual review process within the Credit Department.
  • Gather loan request details from assigned Commercial Lenders or borrowers to conduct cash flow analyses and assess credit information, financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant documentation.
  • Assist in managing and renewing maturing commercial loan accounts, ensuring thorough review of upcoming maturing loan reports and maintaining updated borrower files for renewal considerations.
  • Examine loan documentation, personal and business financial statements, and tax returns, while effectively communicating with Loan Officers throughout the evaluation process.
  • Prepare comprehensive written analyses, including spreadsheets and risk assessments for each loan request.
  • Collaborate with assigned Commercial Lenders in structuring loans, collecting necessary borrower and third-party information, and ensuring all documentation meets approval conditions.
  • Identify and report any internal loan exposure issues related to current loan requests and highlight any deviations from established Bank policies.


  • Accompany Commercial Lenders on client meetings as required.
  • Present final loan analyses to both the assigned Commercial Lender and the SVP/Portfolio Manager for review and approval.
  • May participate in the Bank's Officer Loan Committee for significant loan requests.


  • Engage with the SVP/Portfolio Manager on special projects as assigned.
  • Work independently to manage and complete assigned tasks effectively.
  • Maintain up-to-date credit files with borrower financial information and correspondence.



JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of banking products and commercial lending solutions, with the ability to align these with borrower needs.
  • Familiarity with Commercial Real Estate Lending, Commercial & Industrial Lending, and Small Business Lending, including cash flow analysis, loan repayment structuring, and financial trend identification.

Experience in analyzing:
personal and corporate tax returns, rent roll and lease analysis, personal and corporate financial statements.

  • Proficient in utilizing the Bank's Core System and related subsystems to generate reports and analyses for assigned loan accounts.
  • Skilled in preparing financial spreads for the loan decision-making process.

JOB TYPE: Full-Time
EXPERIENCE:

Commercial credit analysis and underwriting:
Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial loan underwriting within a banking environment.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


Regularly required to sit, use hands, and communicate effectively with staff and clients. Must be able to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must maintain alertness and attentiveness while operating necessary equipment.

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level.
