Senior Commercial Credit Analyst

SVP/Portfolio Manager


This role is integral to the Commercial Lending team, reporting directly to the SVP/Portfolio Manager. The Senior Commercial Credit Analyst is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service support for commercial loans.

This includes collaborating with assigned Commercial Lender(s) to manage their loan portfolios effectively and conducting thorough analysis and underwriting of both new and existing loans by evaluating borrowers' credit histories and financial performance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the SVP/Portfolio Manager in overseeing the credit analyst team, which includes Credit Analyst I's and II's, Senior Credit Analysts, and Hybrid Senior Credit Analyst/Relationship Managers. Responsibilities include workflow management, ensuring timely loan application processing, providing technical underwriting support, and implementing an annual review process within the Credit Department.
  • Gather loan request details from assigned Commercial Lender or borrower to conduct cash flow analyses and assess credit information, financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant data.
  • Support assigned Commercial Lender(s) in managing and renewing maturing commercial loan accounts, including reviewing reports on upcoming maturities and ensuring borrower files are updated for renewal considerations.
  • Examine loan documentation, personal and business financial statements, and tax returns, while maintaining communication with Loan Officers throughout the process.
  • Prepare comprehensive written analyses, spreadsheets, and risk assessments for each loan request.
  • Assist the assigned Commercial Lender in structuring loans, collecting necessary borrower/guarantor information, and preparing approved commercial loans for settlement, including pre-closing documentation.
  • Identify and communicate potential internal loan exposure on current requests and highlight any exceptions to the Bank's policies.

  • Accompany Commercial Lenders on client meetings as required.
  • Present final written loan analyses to both the assigned Commercial Lender and SVP/Portfolio Manager for approval.
  • May participate in the Bank's Officer Loan Committee for larger loan requests.

  • Collaborate with the SVP/Portfolio Manager on special projects as assigned.
  • Expected to work independently while managing and completing assigned tasks effectively.
  • Regularly update credit files with borrower/guarantor financial information and correspondence.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • In-depth understanding of banking products, particularly commercial lending solutions.
  • Familiarity with Commercial Real Estate Lending, Commercial & Industrial Lending, and Small Business Lending, including cash flow analysis and financial ratio assessment.

Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial credit analysis and underwriting within a commercial banking environment is required.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, using hands for tasks, and effective verbal communication with staff and clients. The employee must also be able to stand, walk, and reach as necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level.
