Overview:

This position involves conducting advanced biomedical and pharmaceutical research under the guidance of the principal investigator of the U54 grant. The role encompasses various responsibilities including bioanalytical assessments, drug characterization, imaging techniques, cell culture management, drug formulation, small animal experimentation, and comprehensive data analysis. The fellow will also be tasked with maintaining laboratory instruments, offering technical support to both internal and external stakeholders, and assisting in the dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments while conducting in vivo studies, bioanalytical evaluations, and formulation-related research within the RCMI-CBMHR core facility.
  • Engage in RCMI projects, managing laboratory activities such as study design, experimental execution, data collection, and interpretation.
  • Perform in vitro characterization studies, focusing on the physicochemical properties of drugs, dissolution rates, drug metabolism, and cellular permeation.
  • Conduct in vivo research, including pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies on various animal models.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all CBMHR instruments, develop record-keeping systems for program participants, staff, equipment inventories, and compliance activities. Provide direct support to grant leadership and project faculty.
  • Assist principal investigators in preparing progress reports for various projects.
  • Publish research findings, present at academic conferences, and pursue external funding opportunities.
  • Train undergraduate and graduate students in essential research methodologies.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.
Employment Type:

Full-time (1.0 FTE)

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience.

Educational Requirements:

A doctoral degree in a biomedical science-related discipline is required, along with experience in a biomedical or pharmaceutical research setting. Candidates with at least three co-authorships in peer-reviewed publications are preferred.

Licensing/Certification:

No specific licensing or certification is required.

The position is primarily office-based, with minimal exposure to hazardous conditions. Physical demands are generally limited to sitting or standing for extended periods, with occasional light lifting or carrying of objects.
