Role Overview of an Environmental Compliance Inspector

Position Summary: The Environmental Compliance Inspector is responsible for examining and assessing pollution sources to safeguard public health and the environment while ensuring adherence to Federal, State, and local regulations.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory analyses on collected samples, including the evaluation of contaminated wastewater.
  • Educate health professionals, property owners, and the community about the dangers and implications of water pollution and contaminated wastewater.
  • Compile comprehensive reports in written, oral, tabular, and graphic formats that outline regulatory requirements, enforcement actions, and documentation of chain of custody.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of materials, worksites, and inspection equipment.
  • Identify sites and violation reports for investigation, collaborating with other governmental bodies on compliance and enforcement initiatives.
  • Review permits, licenses, applications, and records to verify compliance with regulatory standards.
