Role of an Environmental Compliance Inspector

Position Overview: The primary responsibility of an Environmental Compliance Inspector is to assess and scrutinize pollution sources to safeguard public health and the environment while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory analyses on collected samples, including evaluating the composition of contaminated wastewater.
  • Educate health professionals, property owners, and the community regarding the detrimental effects and associated issues of water pollution and contaminated wastewater.
  • Compile comprehensive reports—written, oral, tabular, and graphical—that outline regulatory requirements and compliance measures, including enforcement documentation.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of materials, equipment, and worksites.
  • Identify sites and violation reports for investigation, collaborating with other governmental bodies on compliance and enforcement actions.
  • Review permits, licenses, applications, and records to verify compliance with regulatory standards.
