Role Overview of an Environmental Compliance Inspector

Position Summary: Environmental Compliance Inspectors are responsible for assessing and monitoring pollution sources to safeguard public health and the environment while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory analyses on collected samples, including the examination of contaminated wastewater.
  • Educate health professionals, property owners, and the community regarding the dangers and issues associated with water pollution and contaminated wastewater.
  • Draft comprehensive reports, both written and visual, that outline regulatory requirements, enforcement actions, and documentation of evidence.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment, worksites, and materials.
  • Identify which locations and reports of violations warrant investigation, and collaborate with other governmental entities on compliance and enforcement efforts.
  • Review permits, licenses, applications, and records to verify compliance with regulatory standards.
